Illinois Fails To Crack Top 50 On Best Places To Live List
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Money Magazine is out with its "Best Places To Live" list, and not a single town in Illinois cracked the top 50.
Our neighbors in Indiana have two towns in the top 15: The Indianapolis suburb of Carmel ranks No. 1; while nearby Fishers, Ind., ranks No. 12.
Money ranked these so-called small cities for strong job opportunities, great schools, low crime, and a true sense of community.
Naperville was the first Illinois town, coming in at No. 53. Bolingbrook ranked No. 61, while Wheaton came it at No. 80. No other Illinois town cracked the top 100.
Here is the top 10:
- Carmel, IN
- McKinney, TX
- Eden Prairie, MN
- Newton, MA
- Redmond, WA
- Irvine, CA
- Reston, VA
- Columbia/Ellicott City, MD
- Overland Park, KS
- Chapel Hill, NC
Naperville was lauded for funneling tax money to local festivals. It also was praised for a solid jobs climate and Centennial Beach. The town was dinged for traffic congestion and a long commute into Chicago.
