Illinois Diabetes Foundation To Honor Ron Santo
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Ron Santo will be remembered again tomorrow night, this time by the Illinois chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. It was an organization he staunchly supported.
Santo, who lived most of his life with diabetes, was partnered with the foundation since the 1970s and helped the group raise tens of millions of dollars towards finding a cure.

On Saturday night, the organization will hold its annual gala at McCormick Place. Attendees will be able to donate money during the live auction to honor the Cubs legend.
Also, Patrick Reedy, the executive director of JDRF, tells Newsradio 780 that next year, in the springtime, another more formal honor will take place. Details will be announced at the event tomorrow.
Since Santo's passing, donations to JDRF have spiked.
