Illini's Leonard Named Big Ten Player Of The Week
(CBS) Illinois sophomore center Meyers Leonard was named Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Leonard averaged 16.5 points and 14.5 rebounds in two games for the Illini last week. Overall, he shot 62.5 percent from the floor and added seven assists, five blocks and two steals in the two games. His 16 rebounds against Cornell were a career high.
Illinois split their two games last week, beating Cornell 64-60 in Champaign and losing 78-74 to Missouri in St. Louis.
This marks the second time Leonard has been named Big Ten Player of the Week this season as the 7-1 center also earned the honor Dec. 5.
