Illini's Brown Named Big Ten Defensive Player Of The Week
(CBS) Illinois linebacker Jonathan Brown was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week Monday after the Illini's 17-14 win over Arizona State Saturday.
Brown had seven tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in the win. He also grabbed an interception and forced another when he hit ASU quarterback Brock Osweiler as he threw that ball.
This is Brown's first career player of the week honor.
Elsewhere in the conference, Iowa quarterback James Vandenberg was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, Minnesota running back Duane Bennett was named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week and Indiana running back D'Angelo Roberts was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
