Snow, Black Ice Cause Multi-Vehicle Pile Up On Interstate 90
CHICAGO (CBS) – Over a dozen vehicles were involved in a crash Sunday morning on the outbound Kennedy Expressway, according to Illinois State Police.
Around 8:22 a.m., ISP Troopers responded to the crash on Interstate 90 northbound at Montrose Avenue. Snow and black ice caused the 13-vehicle pileup.
Right and center lanes were closed around 8:43 a.m. for investigation. All lanes reopened at 9:23 a.m.
No injuries were reported. ISP is investigating.
Also on the Northwest Side, a car spun out and flipped, landing on its side near Irving Park near Cumberland. No injuries were reported in that incident either.
Things were not easy up in the air either. Planes at O'Hare International Airport had to battle fierce winds as well as the snow. Takeoffs were a slow go thanks to snow and what looked like ice on runways.
