I-90 Crash Claims Life Of Schaumburg Father
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (STMW) -- The father of two children died Sunday after he lost control of his car on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway near northwest suburban Arlington Heights, officials said.
Jeffery Loring, 39, was driving a silver Kia with his children—a 7-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter—riding as passengers when the accident happened about 6:04 p.m. Saturday, authorities said.
They were heading east on I-90 when Loring's car hit the back of another car, which caused him to lose control and drive into a ditch, where the car flipped over, Illinois State Police said.
Loring and his children were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois State Police said.
Loring, of the 1000 block of Dickens Way in Schaumburg, was pronounced dead on Sunday at 11:35 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
His children suffered minor injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, Illinois State Police said.
The cause of the accident remained under investigation Sunday night, but investigators have ruled out alcohol and narcotics as factors, Illinois State Police said.
Illinois State Police said Loring possibly suffered a medical condition but declined to elaborate, citing federal privacy laws.
No citations or charges have been filed in connection to the accident, Illinois State Police said.
