Huskies Yelp With Seventh Straight Loss
Northern Illinois University has been struggling all season. Stretching their losing streak to seven straight proves that. The Huskies rallied to make a second half comeback but their first half flop set them too far behind.
Cervante Burrell scored 15 points and Seattle limited Northern Illinois to 12 points in the first half of a 60-48 BracketBusters victory Saturday.
Aaron Broussard had 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds for the Redhawks (10-16), who had lost four of five. Alex Jones added 12 points and Sterling Carter 11.
Michael Patton scored 15 points and Antone Christian 12 for the Huskies (7-18), who lost their seventh straight.
Northern Illinois shot just 33.3 percent (19 of 57) and 17.6 percent (3 of 17) from 3-point range. But that was better than Seattle, which shot 30.9 percent (17 of 55) and 11.1 percent (1 of 9) from long distance.
The difference came at the line, where the Redhawks went 25 of 31 and the Huskies 7 of 9.
Seattle led 28-8 before Patton got the Huskies into double figures at 28-10 with 2:27 left in the first half.
