Hunt For "Honeybee" Killer Goes Cold
CHICAGO (AP) - Two months after apparently random shootings terrorized residents along the Illinois-Indiana state line the trail for the fugitive has grown cold.
Both the Will County Sheriff's office and the Lake County Sheriff's office in Indiana tell The Associated Press there are no suspects in the Oct. 5 shootings that left one dead and two injured.
The case gained nationwide attention after the gunman asked one victim about honeybees.
Authorities falsely accused police officer Brian Dorian of being the gunman in October. They ruled him out as a suspect days later.
Lake County Sheriff Roy Dominguez says his officers have pursued over 600 leads to no avail. Both he and Will County Sheriff's spokesman Ken Kaupas say the case remains a top priority.
