Huet in talks to return to Europe
Cristobal Huet and his agent are currently in contract talks with a Swiss hockey. If the deal, or another deal with a European team, were to go through Huet's $5.6 million cap hit would come off of the books for next season.
Although Huet's agent says that nothing is definitive at this point, it has been expected that Huet would return to Europe or play in Rockford so the Hawks would not have his enormous salary affecting the roster for next season and beyond. The Hawks have been working with Huet's agent, Stephen Bartlett, to find a situation that will work for both sides.
The first report of Huet returning to the Swiss league, where he played before coming to the NHL, came from "20 Minutes Online," a Swiss news site that claimed Huet would be playing for Fribourg-Gotteron.
