The fire started at 12:34 p.m. at a single-family home in the 900 block of North Harvey Avenue, according to Oak Park police Sgt. Anthony Thomas.
A man who was inside was rescued by either neighbors or fire department personnel, according to Thomas, who said that man was the only person hurt and he suffered smoke inhalation.
He was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, according to Thomas. The fire was out as of 1:20 p.m.
There was no indication the blaze was suspicious but the fire department's arson investigators remained on the scene trying to find out what started it, Thomas said.
