Hossa To Play Tonight Against Sharks
(CBS) Three days after taking a shot to the back of the head that forced his exit from the Canucks game, Blackhawks wing Marian Hossa says he will play tonight against the Sharks.
During Tuesday's win over the Canucks, Hossa was hit in the back of the head by Yannik Hansen. Hossa laid on the ice after the hit for a moment before exiting the game.
"I feel good," Hossa told the Tribune on Friday. "If I have a little doubt I wouldn't go and I wouldn't play. Everything is clear. I was a little shaky right after the punch to the head but the next day was better and after a day off it was much better. I had the practice (Thursday) and felt good this morning."
Hansen was initially given a two-minute minor penalty, but was later suspended one game for his hit.
With a win tonight, the Blackhawks would extend their season-opening point streak to 17 straight games, surpassing the record set by the 2006-07 Stanley Cup-winning Anaheim Ducks (12-0-4).
Daniel Carcillo is also scheduled to play.
"I'm just looking to come back and contribute any way I can," Carcillo told the newspaper. "Being physical and hopefully providing some energy."
