Honor For American Girl Place: Possibly The Best Restroom In The U.S.
(CBS) -- Desiree Lintz says a trip to the restroom at American Girl Place is an experience.
"We have purple walls and pink doors for each of the stalls," the spokeswoman tells WBBM Newsradio's Lisa Fielding.
The bathroom was designed with girls in mind, "and we want to ensure, from A to Z, that it's all about the girl," Lintz says.
Whimsical colors, mirrors and sinks are specially designed for little patrons.
American Girl Place Has One Of The Top Toilets
Six-year old Jola Williams was impressed. "The sink is the perfect size for me," she said.
Also impressed was Cintas Corp., which named the Michigan Avenue store as having one of "America's Best Restrooms," among 10 finalists.
Each stall at American Girl even has a signature doll holder next to the toilet, so that girls don't have to lay their dolls on the floor.
"When someone comes to our stores, girls and their parents, it's all about their experience," said Stephanie Spanos, spokeswoman for American Girl, headquartered in Middleton, Wis.
The best bathroom will be chosen Oct. 31. The winning restroom gets a deep clean and credit for supplies.
Cintas Corp. provides cleaning services and supplies. It judged the facilities based on cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements.
Cintas awarded the Field Museum in Chicago with top toilet honor in 2011.
Other restrooms in this year's Top Ten include Bowl Plaza in Lucas, Kansas, and the Mai Kai restroom in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
