Holland Pitches 4 Scoreless Innings For Rangers In Win Against Cubs 12-7
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Derek Holland allowed one hit in four scoreless innings, and the Texas Rangers beat the Chicago Cubs 12-7 Saturday in a split-squad game at Cashman Field.
Holland struck out two and walked none, and Mike Adams struck out the side in the fifth.
Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija retired his first nine batters before Elvis Andrus singled leading off the fourth and scored on Josh Hamilton's single. Julio Borbon hit a two-run single in the fifth.
Samardzija allowed one run and three hits in four innings with three strikeouts and no walks.
