Hoge: 10 Bears Players To Watch Against The Browns
(CBS) There's no way to get around it: Tonight's game is the most meaningless of the preseason.
Of course, there are still some semi-important story lines to watch for you true football junkies. Thus, here are 10 players to keep an eye on tonight when the Bears take on the Browns at Soldier Field:
OT J'Marcus Webb: Will the J'Marcus Webb era come to an end tonight? It's possible. Webb has had a terrible preseason and he appears to be behind Jonathan Scott, even though Scott has missed almost all of training camp. Webb can't afford to have another bad performance tonight.
OL Eben Britton - Britton seems reliable, but he's also limited in that he's not a left tackle. Still, he has the versatility to play guard and can could cement a spot on the roster with a solid performance tonight.
TE Fendi Onobun - The Bears have continued to back Onobun despite his drops the preseason. Instead of watching how he's used in the passing game tonight, watch his blocking. If he has a solid game blocking, there's a good chance he'll make the 53-man roster.
TE Kyle Adams - Adams might be more dependable for the Bears this year than Onobun, but he doesn't have as high of a ceiling. He needs to outshine Onobun tonight.
DT Zach Minter - The undrafted free agent from Montana State appears to be headed to the 53-man roster and will start tonight's game. He said he'll play both the nose and three-techniques.
QB Jordan Palmer - Marc Trestman has expressed a desire to keep three quarterbacks, but does Palmer know the system well enough? We'll find out tonight.
RB Armando Allen - Held back by a hamstring injury, his job is now on the line as he is in a direct competition with Michael Ford. Allen should be good to go tonight and needs to have a big game.
RB Michael Ford - Has looked liked a dynamic kick return, but still needs to prove his abilities as a running back. Ford needs to take advantage of his carries tonight.
S Brandon Hardin - It's been an uneventful preseason for last year's third-round pick. He'll get opportunities tonight in what is his last chance to show the coaches his big play potential.
DE Cheta Ozougwu - Has been hampered by a hamstring injury, but should be a go tonight. The last roster spot may come down to him or linebacker J.T. Thomas, who didn't practice yesterday with his own hamstring issue. Advantage Ozougwu.
