History Of The Score: Chapter VI - Where Are They Now?
(WSCR) Over 670 The Score's rich, 20-year history, many have come and gone. Here at The Score, we tremendously appreciate the cooperation of the following former Score employees for their contributions to the station, and their participation in this series. Here is an update as to what they are doing today:
Chris Collins works in the development office for DePaul University.
Rick Gieser is the Public Relations Director for the Zanies Comedy Clubs in Chicago and has done publicity for Jim Gaffigan's "Beyond the Pale" and John Pinette's "Still Hungry" Comedy Central specials. He has been involved in publicizing Ringling Brother and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Disney on Ice, Monster Jam, WTTW-TV's Chicago Stand-Up Project and many others. He is currently working with Heidi Van Lier on a documentary on the life of Score alumnus and Chicago Bulls legend Norm Van Lier. He is also weekend sports producer at WGN radio in Chicago, working with Score alumnus Jim Memolo. An avid collector of songs performed by athletes, Gieser can be heard as a guest on radio shows around the country.
Ron Gleason is the News and Program Director at WBBM Radio, where he also hosts the pre and post-game coverage of Chicago Bears football
Fred Huebner currently works part-time at ESPN 1000, hosting various weekend shows including Talkin' Baseball, Ultimate Postgame Show and Chicago's Gameday. Fred also anchors the local updates during the Mike & Mike Show during the week.
Dan Lee is enjoying his time with his wife, children and five grandchildren. He is traveling -- with winters in Arizona -- and plays lots of golf. Dan gets a great deal of enjoyment seeing and hearing some of his old broadcast family as they progress in the industry. He reports, "life is good."
Seth Mason has been coaching college soccer for the last seven at Dominican University. For six of those years, Seth was the lead assistant in charge of recruiting, as well as game prep and scouting. Seth "retired" last spring, only to come back this fall in a more limited role (he did not want to do the recruiting any more...it took too much time). During his seven years with the program, Dominican has gone 130-17-10, winning the conference championship all seven years. Seth still lives in the north suburbs with his wife Susan of 30 years.
Mike North hosts Fox Sports Radio shows on Saturday mornings and Sunday evenings. He can also be heard locally on WIND Radio and his Web site. Mike and his wife Bebe, live in the northwest suburbs with their dog, Lucky.
George Ofman is a sports anchor for WBBM Radio.
Jesse Rogers is a reporter for ESPN 1000.
Tom Shaer remains involved in the Chicago media, occasionally on the air but mostly off-air and as a media consultant. His consulting clients include sports teams, athletes, institutions and government agencies. Tom's children, Nicole and Paul, who appeared on The Score for "Take Your Child to Work Day," are well into their 20s. Tom works out six days a week, has shorter hair and no longer wears glasses. Tom resides in Chicago with his wife, Lisa.
Judd Sirott is part of the broadcast team for WGN Radio's coverage of Chicago Cubs baseball and Chicago Blackhawks hockey.
Rick Telander is an author and is primarily known to Chicagoans as a columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times.
Harvey Wells is the Senior Vice President/ Market Manager for five CBS radio stations in southern California.
Dan Zampillo is Executive Producer of Sports Programming for Sirius XM Satellite Radio. Dan helps consult SiriusXM sports channels, along with overseeing update anchors, MMA programming and any special sports programming projects.
Matt Fishman is currently the Director of College Sports Programming for SiriusXM Radio. He has been with XM (now SiriusXM) for nearly seven years -- first as Executive Producer of Major League Baseball Programming. Matt and his wife Stacy, currently reside in northern Virginia with Howard (9), Ava (7), and their dog, Molly.
Andy Garcia has been working for Westwood One Sports for four years producing games and helping on the radio broadcasts. Andy also does play-by-play for Northern Illinois University athletics, including women's basketball. He hosts NIU Weekly on The Score.
