Highwood Aims For Pumpkin Carving Record
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Can Highwood carve more than 30,919 pumpkins?
City officials are looking to surpass their own world record set last year at next weekend's Pumpkin Festival.
"We are hoping for over 32,000 this year," said event organizer Eric Falber.
They are also hoping to break the record for most people carving at once and the biggest line of pumpkin pies.
The 32,000 Jack-O-Lanterns will be lit on Saturday, Oct. 20.
"It's just a glowing ocean of orange pumpkins," said Falber. "It's just unimaginable."
The reality show "Pumpkin Wars" will be on hand.
Highwood will be going head-to-head with Keene, N.H. for the record.
