High Winds, Rain To Sweep Into Chicago Area
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The beautiful weather last week and earlier this weekend is but a memory now, as blasting winds and bone-chilling rain settle on the area.
CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros reports a wind advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. for Cook, Lake, Kane and DuPage counties, as well as much of Wisconsin, and Illinois counties to the west of the Chicago area.
Easterly winds are expected to gust up to more than 45 mph, bringing high waves on the lake shore and flooding on some parts of the lakefront.
The National Weather Service warns that driving may also be difficult in the high winds, particularly for high-profile vehicles.
As of the mid-morning hours, conditions were dry, but that will also change. Rain is expected to begin falling during the lunch hour, and will continue all the way through early Saturday morning.
Overnight, the low drops to 46 degrees, but quickly begins climbing again as rain continues. But on Saturday, the forecast high is stuck at 53 degrees, although the high winds will abate to gusts of only 30 mph.
