High To Hit 76 As Clouds Break In The Afternoon
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The clouds that dominated the area Tuesday morning will break in the afternoon, while highs reach a comfortable 76 degrees.
CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros says as of 11:20 a.m., it was a temperate 66 at O'Hare and Midway international airports, as well as Aurora and DeKalb. The temperature was 68 at Waukegan, 64 in Gary, Ind., and Peru and Kankakee, and 62 in Valparaiso, Ind.
Rain was falling in the late morning hours far to the south around Kankakee, but sunshine was peeking through in the midday hours. Cloud cover remained somewhat thick in the city of Chicago and areas southeast.
A cold front is lurking to the north and west, and south of Interstate 80, more showers and thunderstorms could be flaring up. But to the north, the cold front will not disturb the sunshine, and will only alter the air masses.
Following the passage of the cold front, the low overnight drops to 56, and the high on Wednesday climbs to 72. The high for Thursday drops to 67, Friday up to 68, Saturday 69, Sunday 70, and Monday 69 again, with dry conditions throughout the week.
