High Gasoline, Airline Prices Hitting Vacationers Hard
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Your summer vacation could cost a lot more this year.
The good news is that gas prices are down from their highs but, Trilby Lundberg says the latest Lundberg survey shows Chicagoans are still paying the highest in the nation, WBBM Newsradio's Regine Schlesinger reports.
A combination of high fuel prices and less competition because of mergers in the airline industry has air fares soaring this summer.

They are up an average of 6 percent to 10 percent but, much more on some routes. Fares are nearly 20 percent higher to Las Vegas and San Diego and 29 percent to San Juan.
A travel manager for AAA Chicago tells the Sun Times there's airline sticker shock for passengers trying to book flights to Europe.
And once you get to where you're going, you'll pay more for a hotel room as well.
