Hidden Cameras Found In Women's Locker Room Of Wis. Gym

(CBS) -- Police have arrested two people after hidden cameras were discovered inside a woman's locker room at a popular fitness center in Wisconsin.

The RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, just west of Kenosha, has hockey, swimming, and a fitness center all under one roof and it hosts several sporting tournaments for teams in Illinois.

Police tell CBS 2's Courtney Gousman the video recordings may date back more than three months. Investigators believe two people are responsible for setting up this operation.

Police are asking potential victims to come forward.

Patty Furlin has been a member since the center opened and says she is never going to go back into the locker room.

Police arrested, 27 year-old Melissa Wenckebach on Monday after a RecPlex member found two cameras inside a women's locker.

"We are not sure how many times that this occurred," said Pleasant Prairie Police Chief David Smetana.

Wenckenbach has been a member of the RecPlex since January, when the recordings are believed to have started. She's since been charged with "depicting nudity" -- a felony. Police say a Waukegan man was also arrested and his home searched.

"We don't really know at this point. We don't know the extent of their roles. She placed the cameras in that locker with the intent of obtaining video and images on it and he was involved in it as well," said Chief Smetana.

The Chief says a number of electronic images were found in the 36 year-old man's home.

The man involved is also expected to be charged with the same felony. The RecPlex is not commenting on this situation, but the chief says even prior to this incident, staff here were monitoring lockers on a daily basis to prevent something like this from happening.
