Heyman: Teams Should Be 'Lining Up For Soriano'
(WSCR) Alfonso Soriano and his albatross contract have handcuffed the Cubs for years now.
The aging outfielder has become an expensive liability in the field, yet at the plate, he still has some value. One baseball expert thinks Soriano could find a home in the American League.
"They've got Soriano, who I've been trying to sell," Jon Heyman of CBS Sports told The Mully and Hanley Show. "I feel like I'm a part of his marketing arm. Nobody seems to want him, and I don't know why. He's got 17 home runs - all since May 15. The guy definitely can hit. He's a productive power hitter and he should be very good for an American League team, particularly a team like Tampa or the Indians. ... There are a lot of teams that could use Soriano. Frankly, I'm surprised that teams aren't lining up for him."

Soriano is under contract through the 2014 season and is still owed roughly $45 million. If the Cubs were to move him, they'd have to be willing to eat most of the remaining money on his deal.
"I understand the contract is bad, but I think the Cubs are willing to be realistic with it," Heyman said. "Whether they pay $36 million out of the $45 million, whatever it is, it would have to be a lot of it."
