Heyman: Sale Has 'About The Best Stuff In The Game'
(WSCR) After watching White Sox left-hander Chris Sale's one-hit performance against the Angels on Sunday night, one word comes to mind: Dominant.
Sale took a perfect game into the seventh inning, handcuffing the Angels' offense, allowing only one hit with seven strikeouts and no walks.
"His stuff is about the best in the game right there," CBS Sports' Jon Heyman told The Mully and Hanley Show. "No question about it. I was stunned earlier when he had a 5.00 ERA at some point after a few starts. I know it was only a few, but it's hard to believe that he is ever hit.
"Right now, you've got deception on top of great stuff. That's as good a combination as you can get."
Heyman said he sees no reason why Sale can't continue his dominance, as long as his mechanics stay tight.
"The only thing I'd watch for is all those moving parts," Heyman said. "He's got them together. He's obviously a great athlete, but he's a big guy with a lot of moving parts, so he's got to keep the mechanics together. (Don Cooper) is a great pitching coach and he's doing a great job with him right now."
