Helmeted Man Robs 2 Banks In 2 Days: FBI
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man wearing a motorcycle helmet and brandishing a handgun is believed to have robbed two separate bank branches — one on the Southwest Side and one in south suburban Oak Lawn — since Thursday.
The robberies were at a Chase Bank branch at 5705 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn on Thursday and a Citibank branch at 5674 S. Archer Ave. in Chicago on Friday, according to the FBI.
The robber, who in at least one of the robberies was wearing a motorcycle helmet with a visor that obscured his face, was described as a white male, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9, wearing white gym shoes. His hair was "colored" and his eye color was unknown. He had a black handgun.
There have now been at least 100 bank robberies in the Chicago area this year, according to the FBI. In 2010, there were a total of 181 bank robberies in the Chicago area.
