Heath Recalled As Beckham Goes On DL
(CBS) The White Sox recalled right-handed pitcher Deunte Heath from Triple-A Charlotte Friday and officially placed Gordon Beckham on the 15-day disabled list.
Beckham suffered a fracture of the hamate bone in his wrist Tuesday and will miss six weeks following surgery early next week.
Heath, 27, has pitched three scoreless innings with six strikeouts in two relief appearances with Charlotte this season and six strikeouts in two relief appearances with Charlotte this season. Last year, Heath went 4-3 with a 1.48 ERA and 74 strikeouts in 36 games with Charlotte. He also pitched in three games with the White Sox as a rookie, allowing one run in two innings pitched.
