Head-On Collision Ties Up Busy Intersection In Prospect Heights
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (CBS) -- A head-on collision resulted in injuries and nearly shut down a busy intersection in Prospect Heights early Wednesday.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, a compact car and a sport-utility vehicle collided head-on in the westbound lanes of Palatine Road at Schoenbeck Road.
As of 6:10 a.m., the injured drivers had been taken away to area hospitals, but the wrecked cars remained at the scene.
Most of the lanes of westbound Palatine Road were closed, but traffic was actually slower on the eastbound side. Northbound Schoenbeck Road was completely closed at Palatine Road, and only one lane was available on southbound Schoenbeck.
Two people, who were able to get out of the car on their own before help arrived, were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries, according a battalion chief with the Prospect Heights Fire District.
