Crawford Injured Again, Lifted After 1st Period
ST. LOUIS (CBS/AP) — Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford, who just returned from an injury this week, was removed after the first period with a new injury during Chicago's 3-0 win over St. Louis.
After the game, head coach Joel Quenneville said Crawford suffered an upper-body injury and it was not the same injury he had last week. The goaltender was listed as day-to-day and flew back to Chicago with the team.
Crawford made six saves to help the streaking Blackhawks take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission Thursday. Chicago now has at least one point in its first 20 games (17-0-3), an NHL record.
Crawford, who earned the win and is now 9-0-3, was making his second start since returning from an upper-body injury on Sunday. He made 28 saves in a 1-0 win over Columbus after missing the previous four games.
Ray Emery relieved Crawford for the final two periods and made 15 saves to complete the shutout.
It is not known who will start in net for the Blackhawks Friday night when they host the Blue Jackets at the United Center.
