Harris, Meriweather Benched For Sunday
(CBS) After the Bears loss to the Lions on national television earlier this week, it seemed evident changes would ensue.
According to a report from the Chicago Tribune, veteran safeties Chris Harris and Brandon Meriweather are expected to be benched in favor of Major Wright and Chris Conte for Sunday's game. Wright and Conte are expected to get the first-team reps at strong and free safety, respectively, during Thursday's practice.
Harris missed three games with a hamstring injury and struggled in his return Monday. Meriweather has struggled since joining the Bears this season. He's proven to be an undisciplined, late-hitting safety, explaining why the Patriots let him go.
Sunday will mark Wright's fourth career start and Conte's first.
