Harris: Leddy Most Likely To Be Called Up
By Adam Harris--
The Chicago Blackhawks will most likely recall Nick Leddy to fill the spot held by Jassen Cullimore, who was sent down to the Rockford IceHogs.
"We'll, we haven't announced anything yet, so we will wait for that, but Cully [Jassen Cullimore], cleared waivers, and made some room in that area...," coach Joel Quenneville said today after the Hawks held practice at the United Center. "I don't know if the timing is right, today at this moment, but it could happen."
Coming off a loss last night to the Dallas Stars the Chicago Blackhawks find themselves in fourth place in their division and more importantly in tenth place in the Western Conference, two spots from being in the playoffs. Something has to improve moving forward for the Hawks to get where they want to be.
"I think we are missing some consistency, that's all," Patrick Sharp said today also after practice. "We've had stretches this season where we've played very well and done things that we've wanted to do and won games. It has been difficult maintaining that consistency. The good news is we have half a season to get that back and play Blackhawks' hockey."
A lot of the team's struggles can also be pointed at injuries. Patrick Kane is still feeling some effects to the ankle injury he suffered, and Marian Hossa and Johnathan Toews have both seen some time off due to injury as well.
"Like I said, after injuries timing is crucial," Marian Hossa said. We are still finding the right timing, and I'm sure he'll [Patrick Kane] will find it soon. That will help our team win hockey games."
Kane told me that he still worries about his ankle, but not while the puck is moving.
"Maybe [I think about my ankle] a little bit, "Kane said, "like before the face offs or on the bench. When you're on the ice, however, you don't really think about it."
Kane is happy with the progress his ankle has made, saying it now recovers faster than before.
