Harris: Byrd To Be Placed On The 15-Day DL
By Adam Harris--
Fenway Park, Boston, MA (WSCR) -- Marlon Byrd is now on the 15 day DL after being hit in the face with a pitch in the second inning of Saturday's Red Sox/Cubs game.
Byrd had multiple facial fractures, and will fly home Sunday night with the team and see other specialists in Chicago this week. He was released Sunday afternoon from the Massachusetts hospital he spent the night in Saturday night. He is expected to be at the park on Sunday.
Reliever Justin Berg replaced Byrd on the roster, and is available to pitch Sunday night in Boston. He will most likely be needed as the Cubs are without previously scheduled starter Matt Garza due to a tight elbow.
Reed Johnson will continue to fill in for Byrd in center field tonight. Other lineup notes, Jeff Baker will play left field and Soriano will DH.
