Hansen To Face Hearing For Hit To Hossa's Head
(CBS) -- Canucks forward Jannik Hansen received only a two-minute minor penalty for roughing after delivering a forearm to the back of Blackhawks' forward Marian Hossa's head on Tuesday, but he could face stiffer punishment from the league.
Hansen faces a disciplinary hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Wednesday over the incident.
Hossa laid on the ice for a few moments after Hansen clocked him in the back of the head early in the third period, and had to be helped off the ice. He did not return to the game. He did score two goals before he was hurt.
The Blackhawks won 4-3, in a shootout.
Hossa is one of the Blackhawks' best players. It's unclear how long he might be out.
"We will know more tomorrow," Quenneville said. "It was a major concern, so hopefully he is OK. I think everybody saw it. Everybody can have their own opinion. So we'll let the people who do that stuff do their job."
Hossa was knocked out of last season's playoffs in April, when Coyotes winger Raffi Torres delivered a vicious hit to his head, causing a concussion. Hossa was not cleared to play again until December.
