Hampton: Bears Left To Pick Up Pieces Without Cutler
(WSCR) To one Hall of Famer and Bears legend, the injury to Jay Cutler doesn't seem real.
Just as the Bears were beginning to emerge as contenders in the NFC, the team lost its quarterback when Cutler went down with a broken thumb. How long Cutler will be out is still unknown, but the Bears were dealt a devastating blow on Sunday.
"This is a terrible blow to a team that had transcended a lot of difficulties and had come together," Dan Hampton told The Mully and Hanley Show. "I remember yesterday on the television I was a little bit shocked to hear that Lovie said this is hands down the best team he's had in eight years. That includes a team that went to the Super Bowl. This is a horrible blow, if indeed Cutler is out."
