Hammond Carjacking Leads To Chase, Crash In Chicago
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A police chase that began with a Hammond, Ind., carjacking ended with a crash in the West Side Austin neighborhood Thursday night, Illinois State Police said.
A state trooper saw a vehicle connected with an earlier Hammond carjacking and notified Chicago police, an ISP District 15 trooper said. The trooper said that Chicago and Hammond police were primarily involved in the chase, which ended in a crash near North Laramie Avenue and West Ferdinand Street.
A person was apprehended and a weapon was recovered at the scene of the crash, the trooper said.
Chicago and Hammond police could not immediately provide further details about the incident.
