Hahn: Roster Spot Open For Konerko If He Wants It
(CBS) It appears Paul Konerko will have a place on the White Sox's 25-man roster, if he wants it.
Speaking at the general manager meetings in Orlando, White Sox GM Rick Hahn said he and manager Robin Ventura traveled to Konerko's home in Scottsdale, Ariz. last week to speak with the 37-year-old first baseman about the possibility of returning.
Hahn said Konerko has yet to let the team know of his decision.
Where exactly Konerko would play if he returns remains a mystery. The team already has Adam Dunn and newly-signed Cuban defector Jose Abreu tabbed to play the position.
Konerko, who will turn 38 before the 2014 season, has spent the last 15 seasons with the White Sox.
