Gusty Winds For The Afternoon, High Climbing To 69
CHICAGO (CBS) -- You might have found yourself shivering if you didn't put on a jacket this morning, and if you brought the wrong kind of hat, the wind might have sent it flying off your head.
But not to worry. While the winds are gusting up to 30 mph, the temperatures expected for the afternoon are considerably less chilly than they were on Tuesday.
CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros says as of 11:20 a.m., it was 62 degrees at O'Hare International Airport, 63 degrees at Midway Airport, 61 at Waukegan, and at the warmest, 64 in Kankakee and Peru.
Cloud cover is displacing the sunshine, and rain is falling to the north in the Milwaukee area, but high humidity is keeping the ground dry on this side of the Illinois state line.
Glaros says later in the evening, a few spotty showers are possible, but none will last a sustained period of time. South-southwest winds will continue at 10-30 mph as the high reaches 69.
The low drop to 53 overnight, and will bottom out in the 40s in some areas. South-southwest winds will continue at 10 to 20 mph.
On Thursday, the high climbs to 70 as the winds drop to 5 to 10 mph, with mostly sunny conditions. On Friday, the high only reaches 64 as another cold front comes in and rain falls again.
