Gurnee Attacker Bites, Punches Victim In Parking Lot
GURNEE (CBS) -- Police are looking for a woman who forced her way into another woman's car at a north suburban Sears parking lot last weekend, then robbed the victim after punching and biting her.
A few minutes before 5 p.m. June 18, Gurnee police responded to the parking lot near the Sears Grand store in the 6100 block of West Grand Avenue. The victim, a 24-year-old woman from Lindenhurst, gave a description of the offender and said she last saw her running towards the store, a release from police said.
A police dog tracked the suspect into the store but the scent was lost inside, police said.
The victim returned to her car from the mall when the other woman approached and asked to use the victim's phone, saying she needed help. The offender seemed to have a phone conversation, then asked the victim for a ride. Before she could respond, the offender jumped into the passenger seat, according to the release.
At that point, the offender displayed a razor blade. The victim drove a short way, then scuffled with the offender in the car. The victim was punched in the face and bitten by the offender, who went through her purse and took a debit card before running off.
The victim was taken Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she was treated for a swollen forehead, abrasions and a bite to the hand, police said.
The offender was described as a black woman 30-35, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 and 145-150 pounds with short black hair with a blondish-orange washed-out color pulled into a ponytail. She was wearing sunglasses, a green shirt and Capri jeans.
