Gunfire Strikes Elderly Woman At Cookout
CHICAGO (CBS) – A woman in her sixties and a younger male were wounded by gunfire Friday night while they were at a cookout in Morgan Park, relatives of the woman said.
The shootings happened near South Carpenter and West 113th a little after 5 p.m. Witness say the woman was grilling in the back yard when someone came running through, firing a gun wildly.
The woman --relatives say she is 68 -- was hit by one of the bullets. The other victim was a 33-year-old male, authorities said.
"It's a shame you can't even come out and sit in your own yard without somebody shooting you," Lorletha Eggleston, a niece of the female victim, told reporters.
Both shooting victims were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
