Gun Policy Compared To Holocaust; Lawmaker Demands Apology
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- A state lawmaker from Chicago says he's upset about the recent use of Nazi-era symbolism by a gun rights group.
Newsradio 780 Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports that a group called Guns Save Life compared a plan by Lisa Madigan to make public the names of Illinois gun owners to Nazi Germany requiring Jews to wear a gold Star of David during the Holocaust

State Sen. Ira Silverstein, who has several Holocaust survivors in his district, finds the comparison offensive.
"I understand there's an issue with what Attorney General Madigan wants to do," he said. "I just think ... you are into a very dangerous boundary when you [make an analogy] to victims of the Holocaust."
The group's president, John Boch, said Silverstein should thank his group for standing up to First and Second Amendment rights.
"The symbolism with the Holocaust is fair in that the slippery slope of the Jews in Germany began first with the identification, then disarmament, then annihilation," the group states in their April newsletter.
"Under Attorney General Madigan's plan, Illinois gun owners will be identified publicly and will stand on the precipice of their own slippery slope toward ends unknown."
