Police Officer's Gun Stolen From Baggage
CHICAGO (AP) — A baggage handler at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport is accused of stealing a gun from a police officer's checked baggage.
Abdoulaye Barry of Chicago has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated concealment of a weapon, possession of ammunition without a valid firearms owner identification card and failure to possess such a card.
Chicago police say Barry was stopped Wednesday by officers who noticed him acting suspiciously as he walked along a street.
Police say a gun was found in his pants pocket while he was being questioned, and a check of the gun's serial number determined an officer had reported it stolen.
Police say investigators believe Barry took the gun from luggage the officer checked for a flight he took earlier this week.
