Gun Control Advocates Call On Madigan To Appeal Concealed Carry
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Gun control advocates are spending the day at the Thompson Center, speaking out against changing state law to allow people to carry concealed weapons, reports WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore.
"As far as we know, this is the first-ever people's filibuster for safe streets," said Lee Goodman, organizer of the Stop Concealed Carry Coalition.
Goodman is calling on Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan to appeal the federal court order saying Illinois must draft a concealed-carry law.
He led off a procession of speakers including Joy Ehlenfeldt, whose parents and five of their employees were killed in the 1993 Browns Chicken Massacre in Palatine.
"And it breaks my heart knowing that my parents and the other five victims had to spend the last 48 minutes of their lives scared and fearful. Watching two people pass a gun back and forth and reload it multiple times just to face their death," said Ehlenfeldt.

She wants Illinois to continue to ban concealed weapons.
Mary Stonor Saunders, who runs "Granola for Good", hasn't lost anyone personally, but has tallied up how many have died from gunfire around Chicago. She says those aren't just numbers, but vibrant lives that were snuffed out in an instant. And she says that's why Illinois must continue to resist concealed carry.
