CHICAGO (CBS) Ozzie Guillen was ejected from Monday night's game against the Cubs after arguing a fair-foul call in the sixth inning.
The ejection occurred after Alexei Ramirez hit a ball about a foot in front of the plate and then rolled back on top of the plate. Cubs catcher Geovany Soto picked up the ball and tagged Ramirez for the out. Guillen sprinted out of the dugout and adamantly argued that the ball rolled off the plate into foul territory, but replays showed it was still on the plate when Soto picked it up.
Home plate umpire James Hoye immediately ejected Guillen, who then kicked Soto's mask about 15 feet. The White Sox were trailing 6-3 at the time.
"He was right, I was wrong," Guillen said after the game, while rolling his eyes. "Because if I say what I want to say, I will lose another 20 grand. I will just leave it that way. He was right, I was wrong and I got kicked out of the game. I'm tired of paying people's money for no reason."
Paul Konerko said he was in the clubhouse when it happened and he thought it rolled foul as well.
"Pretty sure it was foul ball, but it's a tough call because the catcher is jumping up in front of you," Konerko said. "That happens. I mean, I would have liked to see him get help maybe."
