Groupon Dipping Toes Into Grocery Deals
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago-based Groupon is now dipping its toes into the grocery pool.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Debra Dale reports, the online daily deal company has previously offered discounts at grocery stores, but those required coupons.
Now, New England grocery store chain Big Y Foods has become the first retailer in any industry to offer Groupon deals through its loyalty card program.

A Groupon spokesman tells Crain's Chicago Business that if the deal with Springfield, Mass.-based Big Y is a success, other groups are already lined up for similar programs.
But the spokesman will not say which ones.
