Grocery Bagger Right Where She Wants To Be At Age 91
EVANSTON, Ill. (CBS) -- Retirement seems to be a state of mind for Clara Kahn, who, at the age of 91, says her job bagging groceries at Jewel "is retirement."
WBBM Newsradio's Mike Krauser reports Kahn works at the Jewel on Howard Street in Evanston three days a week.
"I have one woman that she says to me 'I like it all in one bag,' and she says 'You're the only one,'" Kahn said.

She said she often has customers offer to help her with her job.
"People look at me when I lift the potatoes. 'I'll do that.' They don't realize I've done that all my life," she said.
When people ask her age, Kahn usually acts like she can't hear them.
"One woman asked me how old I was, and I just turned away, and she says to me, 'Well, I'm 93.' So I says, 'Well, you got me beat,'" Kahn said.
Kahn said the grocery business is all she's ever known. Her father opened his first store when she was 11.
"I'm very grateful, I'm well, and I'm strong," she said.
She tried retiring once, but it lasted only three weeks.
Kahn missed eight months of work three years ago, however, after she was struck by a car while bringing in shopping carts.
"That's why I have a doctor's note not to do the carts no more," she said.
When she recovered, she was right back where she wants to be.
"I like being with the public," she said.
