Gretzky: Son Being Drafted By Cubs May Have Been 'Meant To Be'
CHICAGO (WSCR) Wayne Gretzky is greatest hockey player ever to play the game. On Tuesday, the Chicago Cubs made his son Trevor one of the newest members of the organization by drafting him in the seventh round. And something about him coming to Chicago just makes sense.
"You know, it's ironic how things work out," the NHL's All-Time leading scorer said on the Danny Mac Show. "My dad was a huge Stan Mikita, Chicago Blackhawks fan growing up as a child, that's pretty much what he talked about. My very first NHL game was in Chicago Stadium, facing off against Stan Mikita.
"So I guess in life some things are meant to be, and maybe it was meant to be that Trevor was drafted by a team in Chicago, and he's trilled to be drafted by the Cubs."

Trevor is currently playing at Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, Calif. and has a scholarship to play at San Diego State next year. He will have to decide between the Aztecs and the Cubs.
While Trevor hasn't made a decision, and Gretzky didn't discuss what he might be thinking, he did say that he looked forward to the possibility of watching his son play in Chicago.
"I really hope one day I sit there in Wrigley, at the ballpark and see his first game."
