Grenade Found In South Side Apartment Building
CHICAGO (CBS/WBBM) -- Police found a grenade and several other weapons overnight in a basement apartment in the Park Manor neighborhood.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Bernie Tafoya reports, police say a tenant found a book bag in the basement of the apartment building where he lives at 7043 S. Indiana Ave. The bag contained a grenade, a sawed-off shotgun, and various rounds of ammunition, police said.

The building landlord called police, police Bomb & Arson Section investigators removed the grenade, police said. An X-ray determined the grenade was functional.
Police were told tenants who used to live in the basement left the weapons there.
No charges are expected to be filed against the homeowner, police said.
