Greenstein: Could Zook Be In Jeopardy?
(WSCR) Two weeks ago, no one would have imagined Ron Zook, head coach of an undefeated Illini team, would be on the hot seat.
After a 6-0 start, the Illini have fallen to 6-2. With a tough conference schedule coming up that includes Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin, the Illini could easily fall to 7-5.
Terry Greenstein of the Chicago Tribune joined The McNeil and Spiegel Show to discuss Zook's future.
"At 7-5, what does Illinois do? I wouldn't think that the Zooker would get tossed, but the situation bares watching," Greenstein said. "You've got a new athletic director, so that sort of changes what the dynamic is. Under Ron Guenther, you sort of felt like Guenther had Zook's back and he was going to get some breaks, but now it's a new situation.
