Governor Signs Bill Aimed At Keeping Teachers Safer At School
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Gov. Quinn has signed a law that will allow school officials and law enforcement authorities to share juvenile criminal records on a limited basis.
The governor signed the law in a ceremony at Elgin High School.
"I think it's a model for the whole country," Quinn said.
The law was inspired by the attack on Elgin High School teacher Carolyn Gilbert, who lost an eye in 2008 when a student under investigation for two other attacks came at her with a knife.
