Glenview man charged with stealing victim's car during fight in Park Ridge
PARK RIDGE, Ill. (CBS) — A Glenview man was charged after he stole a car from the victim during a fight in Park Ridge last month.
Tomasz J. Kalembasa, 40, was charged with vehicular hijacking.
Park Ridge police said on Oct. 27, Kalembasa walked onto the driveway of a resident in the 1200 block of N. Northwest Highway, where the victim, who was a resident, was sitting inside his gold-colored 2005 Toyota Sienna minivan. Police said Kalembasa approached the car, opened the door, and demanded it.
The victim refused, and Kalembasa then walked down the driveway towards the street while the victim followed and called 911 from his cell phone. The two got into a fight on the driveway, during which he was able to get away from the victim, enter their car, and leave the scene heading southeast on Northwest Highway, police said.
On Tuesday, Kalembasa was placed in custody by the Cook County Sheriff's Office and then transported to the Park Ridge Police Department
Kalembasa was processed without incident and is awaiting his first court appearance.
