Girl, 9, Throws Party For Kids With Sickle Cell Anemia
MATTESON, Ill. (CBS) -- A 9-year-old girl celebrated her birthday this weekend by giving the ultimate gift.
Olivia Shorter of south suburban Matteson had a huge request for her birthday. She wanted to ho0st a party for children diagnosed with sickle cell anemia.
Olivia, 9, was born with the condition herself.
Children celebrated at the Matteson Community Center with music and dancing.
People even got to donate blood.
This was the third year of Olivia's Sickle Cell Awareness Party.
