Girl, 6, Killed In Round Lake Beach Crash
ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. (STMW) -- A 6-year-old girl was killed in a traffic crash Saturday afternoon in north suburban Round Lake Beach.
The two-car crash happened at 2:47 p.m. at Route 83 and Millstone Drive, according to a release from Round Lake Police.
The girl -- identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Leyzle Arteaga -- suffered "massive head trauma" from the crash, police said.
Leyzle, of the 500 block of Lagoon Terrace in Round Lake, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she died at 9:25 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
The cause of the crash was not immediately disclosed.
The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team and Round Lake Beach police continue to investigate, the release said.
