Girl, 4, Killed In Dolton Crash
DOLTON, Ill. (STMW) -- A 4-year-old girl is dead and her mother, father and brother were hospitalized after a rollover crash Saturday morning in south suburban Dolton.
The family was inside a Ford Escape that collided with a Hyundai Sonata about 10:45 a.m. at Lincoln and Blackstone avenues in Dolton, according to Dolton police Deputy Chief Ronald Burge.
Both vehicles rolled over and landed in a gas station – one about a foot from a gas pump, Burge said.
The 4-year-old girl was ejected from the car and initially taken to Franciscan St. Margaret Health in Hammond, Ind., and later transferred to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital, where she died Saturday night, Burge said.
Faith Williams, of the 15400 block of Drexel Avenue in Dolton, was pronounced dead at 6:59 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The girl's mother remained hospitalized at St. Margaret Health, Burge said. The girl's father and brother went to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey. The father was treated and released and the son was transferred to Children's Memorial Hospital.
The woman driving the Hyundai was treated and released at Ingalls Hospital, Burge said.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to Burge, who said police are still investigating.
No citations have been issued as of Saturday night.
